Abstract
Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) systems are proved as a good security measure against different types of security threats. Besides getting success in many of the latest technologies, no comprehensive IDP system exists for Next Generation Networks (NON). IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) serves as a Service Delivery Platform (SDP) for Next Generation Networks (NON). IMS offers variety of services like Presence, Instant Messaging, Push to talk over Cellular, Conference etc. All these services are subject to various types of security attacks including flooding attacks and internal threats etc. Therefore security of theses multimedia services is the key requirement for the success of IMS. We in this paper developed a comprehensive IDP System for IMS. This IDP system lies between IMS core and IMS application plane and secures the IMS application plane from different types of security threats.
