Abstract
The focus of this study was to explore the characteristics of traffic flow as well the behaviour of drivers on the roads and their relationship with accidents in the Jazan region. Data collected over a span of 4 years have been used to achieve the objectives of the study. The most important results were that 85% of the accidents in the sample were attributable to drivers under the age of 40 and the highest percentage of accidents occurred during the holy month of Ramadan. The percentage of deaths resulting from accidents relating to fatigue was close to 20% of the total number of deaths in the sample for cities, and only between 30 and 60% of vehicle drivers showed commitment to comply with regulated speeds.
