Abstract
Knowledge of the hydraulic conductivity of water moving through soil is an important measurement of water movement through the soil. Manual methods of measurement are laborious and time-consuming. The objective of this study was to adapt the manual laboratory method to an automated system. This method was accomplished with fitting the manual monitoring system of the laboratory apparatus with sensitive electronic pressure cells with the support of data logging and PC monitoring system. These cells were calibrated and tested on various soil textures. The results were detected with highly significant correlation levels with confidence approaching 99% allowing totally automatic unattended operation.
