This paper is devoted to present an efficient approximate method for solving a certain class of fractional variational problems (FVPs). In the proposed method, we used the properties of Rayleigh–Ritz method and chain rule for fractional calculus to reduce FVPs to solve a system of algebraic equations which solved using a suitable numerical method. The results obtained through numerical procedure show that the method is effective and reliable.
