Abstract
Experimental creep results for Pb-9Sn, Zn-40Al and Au-10Ni solid solutions are investigated. The present analysis reveals the presence of two distinct deformation regions (climb and viscous glide) in the plot of log epsilon @u. vs. log sigma for Zn-40Al, in line with the results for Pb-9Sn and Au-10Ni. The climb-viscous glide criterion can predict satisfactorily the transition between the two deformation regions when accurate values for the alloy parameters (stacking fault energy, tracer diffusivity and shear modulus) along with the proper ration constant (B approximately equals 5 x 10 super(13)) are included in the analysis.
