Abstract
Aerosol and rainwater samples at two sites in eastern England and one site in western Ireland were analyzed for concentrations of individual alkyllead compounds. The data show a predominance of the gas-phase over aerosol-associated species in the air at all sites. A greater abundance of tetraalkyllead than trialkyllead is evident. Washout factors for total alkyllead are lower than for inorganic Pb and correlate highly between adjacent urban and semirural sites. Total alkyllead correlates strongly with inorganic Pb at the urban site, indicating a common vehicular source.
