Abstract
This paper reviews some of the experimental works carried in monitoring air pollutants in major cities of Saudi Arabia. Automotive emissions are the major source of air pollution in the country. Airborne lead comes from motor vehicles burning leaded gasoline. The concentration of lead in the Saudi gasoline is 0.84 g/L. The average ambient airborne lead levels at high traffic locations in populated cities in Saudi Arabia are between 2.38–5.5 μg/m
3. The average lead concentrations in school children's blood at those location are 9–10 μg/100mL.
