Abstract

Human peripheral blood neutrophils preserved in 10% dimethyl sulfoxide and stored at −70 °C retain their original bactericidal activity for prolonged periods of time, if not indefinitely. This is true of both normal neutrophils and those with the intrinsic defects in bactericidal capacity such as occur in the victims and carriers of chronic granulomatous disease.
