•Bentonite/APTES composite was prepared by the extruded procedure.•The prepared composite was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, and SEM techniques.•The maximum CO2 adsorption was found to be 16 wt% for 5% Bentonite/APTES composite.•5% Bentonite/APTES composite showed good stability that pristine APTES over 15 consecutive cycles.
Herein, we report the composite prepared from bentonite clay and 3-aminoprpoyl triethoxy silane (APTES) for CO2 adsorption via a simple extrudation procedure. The resultant sorbent is characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) techniques. The maximum CO2 adsorption was found to be 16% for 5% Bentonite/APTES composite. Furthermore, it retains its initial adsorption of 88.75% over for 15 cycles.
