Heats of hydration and heats of reaction with iodine have been used to experimentally determine the enthalpies of generation of a series of polyacene dianions in THF from sodium metal and the solvated hydrocarbon [AH° for A(THF) + Na(a) ‐+ A212 Na (THF)].
