Abstract
Two new lanosteriod type triterpenes have been isolated from the aerial parts of Combretum molle. Their structures have been established on the basis of spectral data as 3 ,7 -dihydroxy lanost-5-ene, designated as combretene-A (1), and 3 -hydroxy-28-hydroxymethyl lanost-25(26)-ene, named as combretene-B (2). Previously reported compounds, such as a 1 -hydroxy cycloartenoid (mollic acid), and its 3 -L-arabinoside, 3 -D-xyloside and 3 -D-glucoside, have also been isolated from the plant.
