Abstract

Considering a model system it is shown that higher order vibronic and spin orbit vibronic mechanisms may increase the theoretically derived non-radiative decay rates dramatically. It is suggested that the inclusion of higher order mechanisms in the theoretical computations of non-radiative decay rates in real molecules might resolve the discrepancy between experimental and theoretical results.
