Abstract

The control of prostaglandin biosynthesis by adenine nucleotides was studied in rat brain homogenates. ADP stimulated PGE 1 Formation. Cyclic AMP enhanced PGE 2 biosynthesis. The formation of PGE 3 was inhibited by ATP. The action of some drugs on the control system was studied. The results are used for a hypothesis on the mechanism of depressive illness.
