Abstract

Chemistry Chemistry, Multidisciplinary Physical Sciences Science & Technology
Phytochemical investigation of the n-butanol fraction of the methanolic extract of the whole plant of Amaranthus spinosus Linn. led to the isolation of amaranthoside, a lignan glycoside 1, and amaricin, a coumaroyl adenosine 2 along with stigmasterol glycoside 3. The structures of these compounds were determined by spectral analysis (including 1D- and 2D-NMR experiments) and comparison with literature data.
