Abstract
1) to explore the lifestyle of youth from culturally and environmentally diverse cities, two in Central England (Birmingham & Coventry) and one in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia (Al-Ahsa); 2) to examine differences due to gender, age and geographical location. 2290 volunteered youth (15-17 years) from the three cities completed a self-report questionnaire that contained 47 items relating to patterns of physical activity, sedentary behaviours and eating habits. The questionnaire allows the calculation of total energy expenditure in METs-min per week based on reported metabolic equivalent values. The univariate ANOVA revealed highly significant differences in levels of PA of youth across the three cities (p<.001). Using Chi-square analysis, frequency data revealed a significant difference in PA levels between youth in Birmingham, Coventry and Al-Ahsa ( chi super(2) 4 = 653.85, p<0.001), with 72.3%, 77.2% and 26% of youth being 'active' respectively.
