Abstract
The petroleum product specifications are based on the results of physical distillation of petroleum samples, which requires large volumes of samples and involves hazardous operating conditions, compared to the gas chromatographic simulated distillation, which requires microliter quantities and provides very accurate results. Correlation constants were developed to convert the simulated distillation boiling points to physical distillation boiling points according to the methods of the American Society for and Testing and Materials for the complete range of petroleum products using the Matlab computer program after analyzing the samples both by physical and simulated distillation methods.
