Abstract
In this work, we calculate the transmittance spectrum of a defective one-dimensional photonic crystal to detect proteins. The cavity is filled with a protein solution surrounded by graphene and nanocomposite layers. Within the photonic band gap, we observe the defect mode, which tunes to shorter wavelengths as temperature increases. This shift is coupled with a decrease in the quality factor. We also report an increase in transmittance and defect mode shifting toward longer wavelengths when the thickness of the cavity and the graphene layers increase. Finally, when the fill factor of the metallic nanoparticles increases, the defect mode shifts toward longer wavelengths.
