Abstract

A new spot test for the detection of reducing sugars and vitamin C, when present individually or together, has been developed. Chloroauric acid solution has also been used for the quantitative determination of vitamin C. The reaction obeys Beer's law in the range of 20–200 μg and the visual limit of identification is 2 μg/ml. The amounts of different compounds which do not interfere in the determination are reported.
