Abstract
The automatic multiple-beam Fizeau fringe technique with the aid of the slab model is used to characterize the macroscopic and the microscopic optical parameters of bent optical fiber cladding. The contour line of the interferogram is obtained using a one dimensional Fourier transform. The used mathematical expressions are based on a consideration of refraction of the beam through the liquid/bent fiber interface. The refractive index profile, the induced birefringence profile and the dispersions are studied along the cladding diameter. The influences of bending on the dispersion parameters, such as the oscillation energy E-0 and the dispersion energy E-d, for the optical fiber cladding are investigated. Also, the variations in the molecular polarizability and corresponding parameters are illustrated.
