Abstract
The objective of this work is to develop the fabrication of films based on poly (vinyl alcohol)/gelatin blends by electron beam irradiation crosslinking for the potential application as biodegradable materials. The films were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). The results of FT-IR spectra, DSC and XRD showed that chemical modifications were occurred, particularly in the gelatin component. The thermal analysis by TGA showed that the blends based on PVA/gelatin blends showed higher thermal stability with increasing the ratio of gelatin component.
