Abstract

The dielectric and piezoelectric properties of calcium-doped lead zirconate titanate compounds were studied. For compounds with calcium concentrations higher than 0.05 at.% the measured properties showed a marked change in their behaviour. The results were explained on the basis of the role played by lattice defects and their interactions with the doped ions. From our experimental results, the most useful composition for industrial work is lead zirconate titanate ceramic containing 0.05 at.% Ca.
