Abstract

Chloramphenicol - pharmacology

Clindamycin - pharmacology

Erythromycin - pharmacology

Lincomycin - pharmacology

Streptococcus pyogenes - drug effects

Streptococcus pyogenes - growth & development

Streptococcus pyogenes - metabolism

Streptolysins - biosynthesis

Lincomycin and clindamycin, at concentrations below those which partially inhibited bacterial growth, completely suppressed the production of streptolysin S. Chloramphenicol and erythromycin had no effect on hemolysin production.
