Abstract
In analysing survival data there is often interest not only in the survival time but also in the residual survival time (or residual lifetime) distribution. Foran individual of life length x, the lifetime remaining after having completed T units is known as the residual lifetime in reliability. In this paper we have obtained the condition for a condition for a continuous distribution function to belong to the, domain of residual lifetime attraction of continuous limiting distributions using the family of Generalised Lambda Distribution (GLD). The behaviour of the median residual life function compared to the mean residual life function (MRLF) is also studied using a single unified expression with the help of the same family of distributions and obtained that the shape of the median residual life function is the same as that of the MRLF.
