Abstract
Samples of atmospheric sulfate were prefiltered to exclude the largest particles and used in a profile technique-based study assessing representative deposition velocities for particulates of 0.1-2.0 mu m size. The mean deposition velocity to a short grass surface, as determined in 99 separate experiments, was 0.1 super( plus or minus )0.03 cm/s. Deposition velocity did not appear to depend on either atmospheric stability or friction velocity within the range of conditions examined.
