Abstract
Background:
Asthma is a one of the most widely spread chronic disease in children that can cause a significant co-morbidity illness. Until now, no data available to estimate the prevalence of asthma in Buraydah, Saudi Arabia.
Objective:
This study aims to estimate the prevalence rate and the epidemiological characteristics of bronchial asthma among primary school children in Buraydah, Saudi Arabia.
Method:
A cross-sectional descriptive study will be conducted in general primary Buraydah schools, by using pretested, well-constructed self-administered standardized and validated Arabic version questionnaire, which will be directly to parents of students or guardians. Result The prevalence of Asthma in our study was 29.1% among children whose age between 5 and 15 years in Qassim Region.
Conclusions
The prevalence of Bronchial asthma in Buraydah is higher than those reported in other local areas.
