Abstract
Silver (Ag) nanoparticles with strong light scattering properties have been prepared on glass substrates by silver mirror reaction and annealing. The prepared silver nanoparticles have spherical shape and are well-distributed at a relatively high annealing temperature of 400 degrees C for silver film thickness of about 40 nm. The structures, morphologies, and light scattering properties of prepared silver nanoparticles were studied by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and light scattering device. As the Ag film thickness increased from 20 nm to 50 nm the average size of Ag nanoparticles increases from 130 nm to 390 nm, and the light scattering of the Ag nanoparticles has a bigger increase in the whole angle range (10 degrees-90 degrees). Ag nanoparticles with average diameters of 320 nm have the strongest light scattering property.
