Abstract
The optical properties of irradiated epoxy resin films with different thickness were carried out using a UV spectrophotometer. epoxy-resin specimens were subjected to gamma- rays with doses varying from 0 to 120 kGy. The optical parameters were evaluated in a wavelength range between (190 to 1100 nm). The optical parameters such as; absorption coefficient (alpha), optical density (OD), skin depth (SD), extinction coefficient (k), refractive index (n), optical band gap Eg, dielectric constant (epsilon 1), and dielectric loss (epsilon 2) were determined. The results indicate that the optical behavior of epoxy thin films is a good transparent in the low wavelength region. It was found that the evaluated optical band gap (Eg(dir), Eg(in)) decreases with increasing thickness and gamma irradiation doses. In addition, the type of electronic transmission is indirect.
