Abstract
This study presents design, fabrication and testing of double slope solar still and also optimization of glass tilt angle (25, 30, 35 and 40 degrees) and water depth (1, 2 and 3 cm) in Saudi Arabian climatic conditions. Optimum tilt angle was found to be 35 degrees for both summer and winter seasons, and also productivity increases with reduction in water depth. A number of existing energy and mass balance equations were used to validate experimental results. Numerical and experimental results were in good agreement with an RMS error of 5-10%.
