Abstract
Malathion, an organophosphorus compound, is increasingly used as a pesticide; since many agricultural workers are repeatedly exposed to this pesticide it is worthwhile to probe into its toxic nature despite its very low mammalian toxicity. It has been reported by the authors to alter the thyroid functioning of male rats. In the present study they examined the effect of long-term exposure to malathion on the testicular functioning of albino rats. It is concluded that malathion, as employed in this study, caused irreversible or partly reversible damage, affecting adversely the testicular functions of albino rats.
