Abstract
A special arrangement of electrically small particles for infrared imaging application is presented. The proposed configuration is composed of split ring resonators surrounding eight tapered microstrip lines and sits on a dielectric substrate with a backed metallic layer. Simulation and numerical calculations are carried out to investigate and prove the proposed structure's power absorption ability. The structure is designed to absorb incident infrared radiation in the 8-12 mu m band. Approximately 52% absorption efficiency is achieved during this study. An absorption efficiency of more than 90% is realized by utilizing an infinite array of the proposed structure.
