Abstract
Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) is an emerging technology aimed at to support and provide real-time health monitoring and timely curing patient's life under any life-threatening diseases. Sensors in a WBAN operate inside or outside of human body to get different physiological signals and send to a central node called coordinator node. Medium access control (MAC) layer plays a substantial role to maximize network life and achieve quality of service (QoS). We proposed Energy Efficient Dynamic Channel Allocation Algorithm (EE-DCAA) under IEEE 802.15.6 standard to exploit the benefit of polling access mechanisms along with contention access to dynamically assign slots for heterogeneous sensor nodes. We assess our scheme with state-of-the-art protocol. The simulation results showed that our approach maximizes average network throughput, packet delivery ratio and minimizes energy consumption.
