Abstract
The implementation of Enterprise System (ES)software package is a critical investment for organizations, which is also characterized by a high degree of risk. Selecting the most appropriate software is one of the most important and necessary steps in ES implementation for a system success. Due to inherent complexity of ES, diversity of available alternatives in the market and limitation in resources selecting appropriate ES software is a risky, difficult and time consuming task for the organizations. The selection of the right software requires some sort of balancing environment among system requirements, technical characteristics, and financial issues. Therefore, systematic and repeatable methodologies are needed to select such software that best meets the requirements of the customer. In this paper, a brief literature review of methodologies for the ES software evaluation, selection, and criteria for ES selection from the period 2005-2010 is presented. These methodologies are summarized and classified by decision making methods.
