Abstract
In this research work, the biochemical characteristics were evaluated based on the ability of Trichosporon mycotoxinivorans to produce 19 enzymes in growth medium, effects of the yeast on activity of liver enzymes in mice blood plasma (Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST)) were estimated and histopathology of liver tissue was examined by light microscope as partial biological evaluation. The results indicated the ability of yeast in producing the following enzymes: alkaline phosphatase, esterase (C4), esterase lipase (C8), leucin arylamidase, valine arylamidase, cystine acrylamidase, acid phosphatase, alpha-chymotrypsin, beta-glucosidase, alpha-glucosidase, beta-galactosidase and naphthol-AS-BI-phosphohydrolase but it does not have the ability to produce alpha-galactosidase, beta-glucuronidase, N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase, alpha-mannosidase, trypsin, alpha-fucosidase and lipase (C14) enzymes. It does not have any negative effect on the liver enzymes in mice blood; moreover it does not have any histological damage in the liver tissue. The results suggest that this yeast could be used safely as a probiotic additive in animal feeding to take advantage of its ability to destroy the mycotoxins.
