Abstract
Cross-section data for the production of medically important radionuclide I-124 via five proton and deuteron induced reactions on enriched tellurium isotopes were evaluated. The nuclear model codes, STAPRE. EMPIRE and TALYS, were used for consistency checks of the experimental data. Recommended excitation functions were derived using a well-defined statistical procedure. Therefrom integral yields were calculated. The various production routes of I-124 were compared. Presently the Te-124(p,n)I-124 reaction is the method of choice; however, the Te-125(p,2n)I-124 reaction also appears to have great potential. (C) 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
