Abstract
This research has shown the importance of using Form-Based Code in Riyadh in order to produce an attractive and effective pedestrian environment. Since spaces are the leftover after building development, then controlling how buildings are developed, and how they interface with surrounding areas, may help in creating attractive urban spaces. Tabuk Street, which has been improved by the mayoralty of Riyadh, was taken as a case study in this research. The paper shows how the street would be different if a detailed urban code was used during its improvement. The research concludes with alternative solutions, especially with regard to traffic and car parking, which represent a major determent to citywide pedestrianization.
