Abstract
Many real-life problems are multiobjective optimization problems, and often, when solving these types of problems, the main task that the researchers are interested in is to compute or approximate the Pareto-optimal front. In this paper, a systematic procedure (an analytical approach) is introduced not only for finding the Pareto-optimal front but for formulating the relationship between the decision variables (innovative design principles) as well, which leads to generating this Pareto-optimal front. The introduced analytical approach is explained, and its working procedure is illustrated on a number of engineering design applications. The diversity of the problems selected from the literature and the results obtained for each problem demonstrate the usefulness of the introduced analytical approach.
