Abstract
A simple continuous flow injection analysis (FIA) with spectrophotometric detection of some anthelmintic and antiprotozoal drugs is presented. These drugs are; oxamniquine (OX), thiabendazole (TBZ), mebendazole (MBZ), flubendazole (FBZ), diloxanide furoate (DF), metronidazole (MTZ) and tinidazole (TNZ).
The characteristics of the system and conditions of the spectrophotometric determination were evaluated.
The proposed technique was applied to the analysis of pure raw materials in concentrations ranging from 2-14 ug.ml(-1) in case of oxamniquine, mebendazole, flubendazole, diloxanide furoate and metronidazole, while the concentration range was 1-12 ug.ml(-1) in case of thiabendazole and 4-16 ug.ml(-1) in case of tinidazole.
The FIA technique was also successfully applied to the analysis of pharmaceutical dosage forms containing the corresponding drugs.
The results obtained were compared statistically with those obtained by applying the official procedures, furtheremore, the validity of the results was assessed by applying the standard addition technique.
