Abstract
Recently, B.-Y. Chen and O. J. Garay introduced the notion of pointwise slant submanifolds of almost Hermitian manifolds. In this paper, we introduce pointwise semi-slant submanifolds of locally product Riemannian manifolds. Using this notion, we investigate the geometry of warped product pointwise semi-slant submanifolds. We provide some non-trivial examples of such submanifolds and prove a characterization theorem. An inequality for the squared norm of the second fundamental form in terms of the warping function is established. The equality case of the inequality is considered. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V.
