Abstract

Life Sciences & Biomedicine Radiology, Nuclear Medicine & Medical Imaging Science & Technology
Gliomatosis peritonei is the implantation of mature neural glial tissue on the surface of parietal peritoneum or the omentum; this condition is usually seen in patients with mature or immature teratoma most often of ovarian origin. Isolated gliomatosis peritonei not arising from an associated teratoma is very rare; presumably, it develops from metaplasia of submesothelial peritoneal cells. (C) 2010 Elsevier Masson SAS.
