Abstract
While oil and gas are expected to continue to be important source of energy worldwide, the share of renewable energy is predicted to increase substantially. Current and projected trends in the supply and demand for fossil fuels and renewable energy are surveyed, with reference to biomass, hydroelectric power, tidal energy, wave power, geothermal energy, solar energy, and wind energy resources. Dissemination of these renewable energy technologies will help reduce reliance on traditional and commercial sources of energy while contributing to measures designed to mitigate the greenhouse effect.
