Abstract
Green synthesis of nanoparticles has been significantly gaining popularity due to its safe, ecofriendly and cost-effective nature. We herein report Green formulation and chemical characterizations of Rhamnella gilgitica aqueous leaves extract conjugated NiONPs and their multiple therapeutic properties. The RG-NiONPs were observed to possess potential anticancer activity against liver cancer lines HepG2 (IC50: 16.78 μg/mL) and HuH7 (IC50: 15.01 μg/mL) at concentration (8.2–1050 μg/mL). MTT cytotoxicity assay was done against leishmanial parasites promastigotes (IC50: 19.43 μg/mL) and amastigote (IC50: 20.81 μg/mL) and determined dose-dependent response. RG-NiONPs exhibited excellent antibacterial and antifungal efficacies against different pathogenic strains using disc-diffusion method. The bacterial and fungal inhibitory zones ranging from 7 to 21 and 9–23 mm respectively. RG-NiONPs were found biosafe and biocompatible using human erythrocytes and macrophages using MTT cell-viability assay. In addition, RG-NiONPs revealed significant enzyme inhibition and antioxidants potencies. In conclusion, RG-NiONPs revealed excellent therapeutic performance.
