Abstract

Single-crystal InN nanotubes and nanowires with a strong photolumines-cence emission at 640 nm have been synthesized via a controlled-carbonitri-dation thermal chemical route. Formation of the nanotubes and nanowires proceeds by a kinetically limited growth process via a vapor-solid (VS) mechanism, and does not require a template to form single-layer nanostructures.
