Abstract
The crystal structures of a homologous series of compounds InFeO3(ZnO)(m) (m=1, 6,13) have been determined by a high-resolution transmission electron microscope. InFeO3(ZnO)(m) compounds have layered structures along the c-axis, which consist of In-O layers interleaved with (Fe, Zn)-O layers. The crystal symmetries are either rhombohedral R(3) over barm$ for m=1 and 13, or hexagonal P6(3)/mmc for m=6. The InFeO3(ZnO)(13) crystal includes intergrowths with varying numbers of (Fe, Zn)-O layers. It was found that the modulated structure having a non-integral periodicity is formed for the InFeO3(ZnO)(6) and InFeO3(ZnO)(13) crystals, and they appear as sinusoidal contrast in the high-resolution image.
