Abstract
Graphene supported nickel oxide (G/NiO) hybrid was prepared via chemical method using graphene oxide (GO) and nickel benzoate dihydrazinate complex as precursors for use in hydrogen (H-2) sensing. NiO nanostructures were synthesized through thermal decomposition of the complex in the presence of G to give G/NiO hybrid. The hybrid material was characterized by various spectroscopic techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). XRD, and XPS confirmed the successful preparation of the G/NiO nanomaterial. When tested in sensing, the G/NiO showed high sensitivity of 52.4% at 2000 ppm of H-2 at temperature of 200 degrees C with good repeatability. Hence G/NiO hybrid overcame the drawbacks of pure metal oxides with synergetic effect which efficiently detected H-2 gas. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
