Abstract
Epidermal and internal anatomical characters of Scirpus littoralis, Juncus rigidus, Imperata cylindrica, Phragmites australis and Typha domingensis were investigated and illustrated. Internal anatomical characters show similarity in the presence of intercellular air spaces which vary in size and distribution. Vascular bundle organization is representative of monocotyledons with major differences as to the type, size distribution and the degrees of lignification.
