•N-type and conductive PEDOT:PSS film is made by isopropanol-treatment of PEDOT:PSS.•Physical properties of isopropanol-treated n-PEDOT:PSS film is studied.•Simulation of p-CuInGaSe2/n-PEDOT:PSS heterojunction.•First time fabrication of solution-processed solar cell based on n-PEDOT:PSS film.
We report on the physical properties of isopropanol-treated poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene): poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) thin film. We found that the isopropanol-treated PEDOT:PSS film can act as a highly conductive electron transport layer, with a conductivity 500 times higher than pristine p-PEDOT:PSS film. Furthermore, for the first time, all solution-processed solar cell devices based on isopropanol-treated n-type PEDOT:PSS film and a chalcopyrite p-type CuIn0.4Ga0.6Se2 nanocrystals film was designed and tested. Such a new solar cell device demonstrates a promising filling factor FF = 43% and power conversion efficiency η = 0.4%.
