Abstract

While evaluating chloramphenicol in the treatment of serious bacterial infections in the newborn the authors also monitored the effect of liberal chloramphenicol use on the the antibiotic susceptibility patterns of bacterial pathogens isolated from infants in the 37-bed intensive care nursery at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto.
