Abstract

The regiospecific intramolecular nucleophilic ring opening (INRO) of 2-azetidinones through ultrasound-mediated indium metal/ammonium chloride-induced reduction of aromatic nitro functionality has been achieved at ambient temperature. This method has provided an efficient entry for the facile synthesis of benzo[1,4]-oxazine-2-one derivatives in aqueous ethanol.
