Abstract
In a 2 year study, a total of 18 3-year-old Najdi ewes, weighing approximately 46 kg, was used to estimate the effect of three different diets on milk yield and composition. Diets were isonitrogenous and isocaloric with different crude fiber contents: 100, 200 or 300 g kg(-1) DM.
Results indicated that milk yield was high in ewes weighing more than 50 kg and also in twining ewes. Protein and SNF percentages were significantly increased by reducing crude fiber content, whereas fat and TS percentages significantly increased by increasing crude fiber in the diet.
