Abstract
The redox potential (E-0) of the electroactive species is determined from cyclic voltammetry by taking the average values of the forward and backward peak potentials, i.e. (E-p(f) + E-p(b))/2. In the case of quasi-reversible charge transfer followed by irreversible chemical step (EqCi) when the chemical step is too fast, the backward peak disappears and the redox potential (E-0) of the couple can not be determined from the average values of peak potentials. In this case, the plot of E-p -E-p/2 various E-p at various values of sweep rates was used for determination of the redox potential E-0. Convolutive voltammetry was used to verify the accuracy and the validity of our simple method.
